What to Expect at Alcohol Rehabilitation

One of the consequences that you may have to do is if you have a driving under the influence conviction is going to an alcohol rehabilitation program. These programs often can have a bad reputation and many people do not enjoy the prospect of attending them. However, they have a high success rate of leading to higher sobriety rates and a reduction in repeat offenders. If this is your first time attending it can be hard to know what to expect. Here are some things to think about.

Routine

One of the aspects of attending an alcohol rehabilitation program is getting into a positive routine. This routine can help break some of the habits that have been in place prior to your conviction. You will have designated meal times, group therapy sessions, individual counseling appointments, and community partners sharing resources to help you break the cycle of using alcohol. This consistent structure helps individuals work through the issues surrounding alcohol and addiction.

Self Improvement

The main focus of alcohol rehabilitation is to take time and focus on yourself by removing all of the distractions that often come when you are living life in a busy society. By getting out of your normal comfort zone and environment you can gain perspective to see what is really important for your life. You can use the time to not only reflect on what alcohol has done in your life you can use the time to make future plans and set goals. It can be a very positive experience to focus on your own health.

Cost

The cost is another factor that people are not aware of when it comes to alcohol rehabilitation. The cost will vary greatly depending on a number of factors related to the venue. If you choose a higher-end establishment it will be more costly. If the facility has more amenities like a gym, nice individual room or specialty classes in art or yoga then you may be looking at a higher monthly rate. Another factor is the location of the site. Many times it can be more expensive if you choose a location that is not in your home town. You will have to factor in travel expenses. Many choose to stay local, but there is an added advantage of getting away physically from the distractions that may have lead to your alcohol consumption.

While the time of rehab may be done in as little as 30 days depending on what the court orders, the process of improving yourself and working on your sobriety is something that continues after your time in rehabilitation is done. Many individuals continue to work on it by attending a 12-step program and attending out-patient meetings. It is our hope that you never find yourself in a situation where you need to attend any form of rehabilitation and that you are able to drive and live safely by using alcohol responsibly. However, if you need a Tacoma DUI lawyer that can help you navigate the process and explain how alcohol rehabilitation may be something that you need to do as a result of your DUI charge, then contact us to see how we can help you with this process.
