Brett Purtzer graduated from law school at the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University) in 1987 where he was a Research and Technical Editor of the University of Puget Sound Law Review as well as a member of the Order of the Barristers.  He has been in private practice in Tacoma since 1988, focusing on criminal defense and personal injury cases, and joined The Law Offices of Monte E. Hester, Inc., P.S. in 1990.

In June of 2006 Brett became a principal of The Law Offices of Monte E. Hester, Inc., P.S., and in November, 2008, the name of the firm was changed to Hester Law Group, Inc. P.S.
